What better way to explore the Tuscan countryside but on horseback?

We offer trail rides from 30 minute first tries up to 2 hours for more experienced riders, so there is a Tuscan trail ride for everybody at Belmonte! For beginners we organise trail rides with a guide on foot, which will follow them step by step in their first adventure on horseback. For those with little experience, we can arrange exciting trail rides or basic lessons. After a ride into the sunset you could have an enticing aperitivo!

HORSE RIDING HOLIDAYS

For adventurous riders who would like to spend a lot of time onthe saddle, then a horse riding holiday at Belmonte is for you! Explore new trails daily, from the stunning countryside views surrounding us to the rolling Volterran hills.

Make a full day ride across the open and unrestricted Tuscan countryside, enjoy a breathtaking canter through the olive groves, then stop for a delicious aperitivo made with local, organic products, arriving home just in time to enjoy the view as the sun sets behind the Belmonte apartments. These holidays are suitable for intermediate riders aged 14 years and over, after being evaluated by our experienced instructor.

HORSE RIDING LESSONS

We offer private lessons for riders for adults and children who are just beginning to try the waters.
Basic level lessons for beginners: You will learn to clean, brush and saddle a horse, and you will improve your skills on the saddle.

CHILDREN’S HORSE RIDING PROGRAMMES

Our staff (and ponies!) have years of experience teaching children to ride.

For children, aged 3 and above, we propose an experience of gaining confidence with the pony or horse, followed by a short pony trekking or horse riding, lasting about 40 minutes, where children, accompanied by a guide on foot, are able to enjoy their baptism on the saddle safely. For those who are more adventurous…also one hour trail rides are possible!
Games and fun on the saddle is what distinguishes our lessons with horses, where children aged from 4 to 6 years can learn more about the world of horses by having fun.

PONY CAMPS

We organize pony camp at any time of the year; children and kids aged from 5 to 15 years old have the opportunity to spend half days in contact with horses and nature. If you want to have further information, detailed plans and upcoming dates, please see our ‘Pony Camps’ page on our website.

Wonderful trailride in beautiful landscape

Me and my two daughters of 10 and 12 years old went for a twohour trailride in the countryside with Alice and her husband as guides! There were both bigger and smaller horses and they were so well-trained, even beginners can handle them! We rode thru the fantastic Tuscan landscape in the sunset and it was absolutely magical!! Alice speaks very good english and told us about their work with taking care of abandoned animals! This evening was one of the best moments of our vacation!

A genuine Tuscan experience

Horse riding through the Tuscan hills is a must do! From Riding Tuscany’s excellent reviews, we contacted the owner through email before our holiday. From the beginning Alice was very helpful and informative and we chose to do the 2 hour trek with sunset picnic.

The ride itself was wonderful. Riding through the peaceful and beautiful Tuscan countryside is an experience hard to forget. Alice ensured we were comfortable on our horses and led the way brilliantly. She spoke excellent English and we had a great conversation with her about everything. It was lovely speaking with Alice and getting a local’s insight into this area.

Alice was very kind to email us later that evening with recommendations and places to visit in the area. We took her advice and found some beautiful hidden gems.
